Great Lakes Water Table Special Appeal
The Great Lakes Water Table at the Sloan Museum of Discovery is one of Sloan Museum's most popular exhibits and is beloved by many of our visitors. It serves as a great educational tool to teach about the water cycle, hydrology, dams, and hydroelectricity, while engaging kids in joyful play. We've received feedback that the floor becomes slippery due to the water table interactives and from the waterfall. We would like to make improvements to the water table itself to lessen the amount of splashing from the waterfall, and cut the concrete floor to add additional drainage to the area so that water drains away and does not create standing puddles. In addition, we would like to re-coat the floor around the water table with a special non-slip epoxy which is often used at public pools and similar wet areas. While these necessary safety enhancements will be an estimated $125,000 investment, the improvements will ensure that the water table can be safely enjoyed by visitors for years to come. Your gift to Sloan Museum's Great Lakes Water Table in any amount towards the improvements will be greatly appreciated. For those who provide a gift at a level of $1,000 or above, your name or business will be acknowledged through a 10-year donor plaque in the Great Lakes Water Table area.
